Tours of the revitalized North Kowloon Magistracy Building are available to the public.

Tours cover 1/F and 2/F landings, the original detention cell and courtroom, and generally last 45 minutes.


  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday:

    10:30 a.m. (Tour in English)

    3:30 p.m. (Tour in Cantonese)
  • Tuesday and Thursday:

    10:30 a.m. (Tour in Cantonese)

    3:30 p.m. (Tour in English)
  • Third Saturday of each month:

    10:30 a.m. (Tour in English)

    12:30 p.m. (Tour in Cantonese)
  • Tours are not available on Sundays and public holidays.
  • Pre-registration is required for tours. Please refer to the booking calendar for details.
  • Individuals and groups are welcome. The maximum number of participants for each session is 15.
  • English and Chinese handouts are available for visitors.

Booking arrangements

Pre-registration is required for all guided tours.

Applications for a tour can be made as early as three months or as late as three days prior to the date of the proposed visit.

For group visits, applications can be made as early as three months and as late as two weeks prior to the date of the proposed visit.

Group tours will be arranged for schools and charitable institutions, however applications for commercial tour groups will not be accepted.

Tours can be booked using the online system on this website or by returning a completed application form to SCAD Hong Kong via email at or by fax to (852) 2253 8065.

Applicants will receive an email acknowledging application receipt within 48 hours. This is not a tour confirmation.

Applicants who have not received an email confirmation seven business days after the application acknowledgement, should contact SCAD Hong Kong on (852) 2253 8022.
